Trying to explain the inexplicable is a difficult undertaking. Beyond recognized scientific laws, there are things that our minds cannot comprehend.

Stéphanie Bonn has set herself the task of photographing a location to which mystical powers have been attributed for over 200 years. For many people, Lourdes has been a place of unparalleled soulfulness ever since the Virgin Mary apperead 18 times before the 14-year-old girl Bernadette Soubirous in the grotto of Massabielle in 1858.

The endeavor to photograph this mystical site, not in a documentary manner, but using symbols and metaphors, gives rise to a series of inspirited images showing sensitive, without denouncing or idolizing, a stylized reality that, in a way, emerges from the tumult of pilgrimage.
